2013 New BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe Review & Pricing

The 2012 BMW 6-Series is a significant improvement on the previous model, in aesthetics, performance, and features. Today, a new model joins the 6-Series lineup: the Gran Coupe. A four-door take on the 6-Series theme, the new Gran Coupe was previewed at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show, and confirmed for production not long after by development chief Klaus Draeger. The wait for official details and specs is finally over.

The standout feature of the car's design, the two additional doors, do surprisingly little to take away from the 6-Series' familiar coupe lines--the roofline still drops quite rapidly into the short rear deck, and the added length is absorbed by strong character lines and accent marks on along the sides. At launch, in early summer 2012, the Gran Coupe will be available in 640i form, powered by a turbocharged inline six-cylinder.

Later in the summer, the 650i and 650i xDrive models will follow with twin-turbo V-8 power, and in the case of the xDrive model, all-wheel drive. No confirmation of the rumored M6 Gran Coupe has yet been made.
The 640i's N55HP engine generates 315 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, enabling 0-62 mph times of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph while eking out a combined European rating of 30.1 mpg.

The 650i Gran Coupe's 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine generates 445 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of BMW Valvetronic to the familiar turbo V-8. That means the 650i four-door is good for 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds, 155 mph limited top speed, and an EU average of about 27 mpg. Adding the all-wheel drive system on the xDrive model shaves a tenth of a second off the 0-62 mph time. All models come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

2012 Newly Toyota Camry Review & Pricing $22,055 - $30,115

The 2012 Toyota Camry has been improved in almost every detail, which is excellent news since the previous model was disappointing in many regards. On the whole, this may look like the same package, but it's been massaged and redesigned to bring it up to the standards of usability, safety and interior construction set by the competition, and then retuned and restyled to be a little more expressive. But as before, durability and reliability are still the key attributes meant to set the 2012 Toyota Camry apart from its rivals.
Toyota has also set out to address a long-running complaint about the Camry being boring to drive. Suspension improvements have been made to enliven the Camry's handling dynamics and make the ride more composed. It's not entirely effective -- numb steering and a general disconnected feel make the Camry a less desirable car to drive than most rivals. The exception to this is the SE, which isn't so much a sport model, but rather the one that manages to bring the Camry's driving dynamics up to par for the class.

The 2012 Toyota Camry is offered in L, LE, SE and XLE trim levels. The L features 16-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, split-folding rear seats, Bluetooth and a six-speaker CD sound system with auxiliary input and USB jacks. The Camry LE adds auto headlamps, power locks with remote keyless entry, Bluetooth streaming audio and a central touchscreen interface for audio, phone and car information.

Every 2012 Toyota Camry features front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission, but there are two engine choices. Base Camrys are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 178 hp and 170 pound-feet of torque. In Edmunds performance testing, this engine brought the Camry from zero to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds, which makes it one of the quickest four-cylinder midsize sedans. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 25 mpg city/35 highway and 28 combined, which puts the Camry among the class leaders.

The 2012 Toyota Camry comes with a battery of standard safety features, including antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control, front- and rear-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and knee airbags for both driver and passenger, the latter new for 2012. A blind-spot monitoring system is also available.

2012 Newly Volvo C30 Review & Prices $24,950

With the C30, Volvo made its debut in the segment for two-door premium cars. The sporty design, with two doors, four individual seats, and a glass tailgate, gives a young and dynamic group of customers "a Volvo of their own".

The C30 personality has been boosted with a new, confident front, a bold styling kit for those who want even more attitude - and a new razor-sharp sports chassis. The Volvo C30 displays clear elements of other classic Volvo models with a sporty pedigree, such as the Volvo 1800 ES. Anyone who recalls the acclaimed Volvo SCC (Safety Concept Car) will recognise the exclusive and convenient glass tailgate.

The grille has a unique pattern with the enlarged iron mark in the centre. The air intake resembles that of the XC60. Viewed from the side, the pronounced wheel housings and the sloping roof give the C30 a fast silhouette that is further enhanced by the markedly boat-shaped side windows. This has been created through the narrowing roof and the wide shoulders. The shoulders at the rear are powerfully rounded and accentuated by both the horseshoe-shaped lighting pattern of the tail lamps and the glass tailgate. New from MY 2012 is the 17-inch, five-spoke diamond cut wheel "Spider".

The C30 has room for four adults thanks to the two separate seats in the rear, with generous head- and legroom. The rear seats are slightly centred to provide a feeling of space and a good forward view. It also makes communication between front and rear occupants much easier.

2013 New Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Review & Pricing $105,500 - $140,440?

Mercedes-Benz is wasting no time showing off the full range of its all-new SL-Class. On the heels of the SL550 and the SL63 AMG is the mighty 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, set to debut at next month's 2012 New York International Auto Show. Benz's range-topping, V-12-powered menace will be the fastest SL on the market once it arrives in showrooms later this year. Pricing hasn't been released for the SL65 as of yet, but expect a significant jump from the SL63 AMG. The outgoing SL65 stickered for $199,000, while the SL63 was pegged at an MSRP of $139,000 -- a difference of a C63 AMG sedan, give or take a few grand. Following its debut at the New York show, the SL65 should arrive in showrooms in November 2012.
The SL65's secret weapon is its 6.0-liter, direct-injection, twin-turbo V-12, which produces 621 hp and a stump-pulling 738 lb-ft of torque, an evolution of the last-gen SL65's M275 V-12 mill, rated at 604 hp and 738 lb-ft. AMG engineers bolted on new turbochargers that provide up to 22 psi of boost; new manifolds and wastegate channels; and revised cylinder heads -- changes deemed significant enough to warrant the engine's new M279 designation. As with most new models in the AMG lineup, the SL65 will also get an ECO start/stop system. Like the SL63, the SL65 will be limited to a 186 mph top speed. Standard brakes include 15.4-inch discs with six-piston calipers at the front and 14.2-inch discs with single-piston calipers out back.

The side view includes V-12 and Biturbo badges and standard 19-inch rims; a set of AMG forged multi-spoke wheels with 20s in the rear and 19s up front is available as an option. Out back, a rear spoiler sits atop the trunk deck, while square-ish quad exhaust tips provide another subtle hint at the roadster's immense performance capabilities. Inside, the SL65 gets treated to diamond-patterned leather seats. Like the previous model, the 2013 SL65 AMG comes standard with a long list of niceties including a Magic Sky Control glass roof, an Airscarf neck-heating system, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and heated and ventilated seats.
